Interesting video. As the liberal, liberal little lady that I am, I have to say I'm with the ACLU on this one. Anyone who wants it can have it in my opinion. I don't know who the Audrey Hepburn icon person (liberal, liberal lady) is, but I could punch her right in the face! Sorry, but obviously she's never experienced being molested. Here's what I have to say to her "castrating sex offenders doesn't solve anything but sagging balls" theory *spits on it*....As far as what you posted, Michele, I totally agree. My husband was telling me about this, and I TOTALLY AGREE. I THINK THEY DESERVE AT LEAST THAT. THEY LITERALLY RUIN - COMPLETELY RUIN THAT CHILD'S LIFE. To those that oppose this idea, let one of your children (or you) be molested as a child THEN see how you feel!!!!! Oh, and I believe everyone in the ACLU needs to be shot. They shouldn't even be allowed to be American Citizens, much less represent one.

I didn't mean to offend you, but please don't assume that I don't know what it feels like to be a victim of sexual abuse because you'd be way wrong on that score. I'd be all for castration if it actually removed the urge to molest, but studies have shown that it doesn't. In fact: "Castration of sex offenders is rooted in the idea that deviant sexual interests, like rape and molestation, are biological: that attraction to violent sex can be cured by rooting out the hormone that causes a biological interest in sex and provides, for some, an ability to perform. But, rape isn't a biological urge as much as it is mental, which is why, despite castration, many sex offenders go on to re-offend. Cutting off a man's balls doesn't cut off that part of the brain which makes him interested in raping. In fact, all it does is, apparently, give him a good argument in front of a parole board as to why he should get let out... and possibly rape again." If they want it, sure, they can have it. But it doesn't "cure" the offender, nor does it end the problem, and neither does a hostile dialogue about the issue.

Oh dear. I know, Elizabeth, you don't know who "meanymegan" (well, you do but you don't on Xanga) is but I believe you would be astonished by her story. And yes, you and I have talked and you have told me parts of yours. I get that being molested is probably the most awful thing that could happen to a child (it is, in fact my greatest fear - above death - and I have had my own stories). Suggesting that people, who don't agree with you, should allow their children to be molested makes my heart hurt. That and wanting to punch someone who simply had an opinion. Bad juju.

This is actually a really interesting study. Skip the first bits and read what they say about the treatment. They talk about castration helping some but not all. And that, I think, is the real issue. Let us not believe that we are going to chop off the balls and fix the dudes to live in society. Some are just awful people that need a lot of psycotherapy. Most sexual assault is a control issue and that will not be fixed without a sex drive. For some, they have found it makes it worse because one form of control was taken, so they find another.
